Herdade da Maroteira Cem Reis Reserva Syrah Magnum 2023
Herdade da Maroteira Cem Reis Reserva Syrah Magnum 2023
Herdade da Maroteira Cem Reis Reserva Syrah 2023 is born at the foot of Serra d'Ossa, in Alentejo, Alentejo Regional Wine, on a 540-hectare estate that has belonged to the same Anglo-Portuguese family for five generations. The Syrah vineyard, planted in 2000, quickly established itself and gave rise to the now famous Cem Reis, one of Portugal's leading Syrah wines, acclaimed by international critics. The year 2023 was dry and sunny, typical of the Alentejo, with low yields and very concentrated grapes. The cooler nights of the Serra d'Ossa helped to preserve acidity and aromas, resulting in a powerful but balanced red wine with great ageing potential.
Vinification: Produced only from the estate's best Syrah plots, harvested manually and vinified by parcel. After fermentation in stainless steel, the wine ages for about 16 months in French (50%) and American (50%) oak barrels, where it gains complexity, toasted notes and very polished tannins.
Tasting notes: It has a very concentrated violet colour. On the nose, it shows warm and intense notes of ripe black fruits (blackberry, plum), spices, light menthol and hints of toasted almonds from the barrel. On the palate, it is full-bodied, round and full, with well-integrated acidity, firm structure, ripe tannins and a long, persistent and deeply aromatic finish - a luxury Syrah from Alentejo, perfect for red meats and game.
Grape varieties:100% Syrah
