Quinta do Crasto Roquette & Cazes 2022

Quinta do Crasto Roquette & Cazes 2022 is the result of a partnership between two renowned families: the Roquettes, from the Douro, and the Cazes, from Château Lynch-Bages in Bordeaux. Since 2002, the aim has been to combine the sun and strength of the Douro with Bordeaux elegance, creating a modern, sophisticated red wine that is easy to enjoy while still young. 2022 was extremely dry, with little rain and high temperatures in spring and summer, which reduced yields and accelerated ripening. The rains in August brought balance, allowing for healthy grapes with good colour, structure and acidity.

Vinification: Hand-picked from schist vineyards (13 years old) and rigorously selected at the winery entrance. After destemming, they ferment in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Then it is aged for around 18 months in French oak barrels (70% new, 30% one year old), where it gains a silky texture, perfect integration of the wood and aromatic complexity.

Tasting notes: Deep ruby colour. On the nose, great intensity and complexity, with very clean and fresh red fruit, notes of fine spice and delicate balsamic nuances. In the mouth, it starts soft and elegant, evolving into a red wine with excellent volume and structure, supported by velvety tannins. The finish is enveloping, very fresh and persistent, leaving echoes of red fruits and spices in the mouth.
