M.O.B. Gauvé Red 2016 (Dão DOC) is the result of a project by Jorge Moreira, Francisco “Xito” Olazabal, and Jorge Serôdio Borges, inspired by the great Dão wines of the 1960s and 1970s—wines of freshness, elegance, and authenticity.

Gauvé comes from a century-old vineyard in Gouveia, at the foot of Serra da Estrela, with granite soils and high altitude, a naturally cooler terroir that helps to “preserve” the wine for many years.

Vinification and aging: It is a blend of grape varieties from century-old vines, fermented in oak barrels and stainless steel and aged in used 500-liter French oak barrels. 13% alcohol, a pH of 3.69, and 5.16 grams of acidity. 2,500 bottles were produced.

Tasting notes: Gauvé Red 2016 has great complexity, elegance, and nuance, maintaining balance and harmony, with polished tannins and a smooth mouthfeel. It has a restrained maturity.

The 2016 Gauvé Tinto, a wine first produced in 2015, has lots of complexity, elegance and nuance, keeping the poise and balance, with polished tannins and a sleek mouthfeel. It's a field blend from centenary vines, fermented in oak and stainless steel casks and matured in used 500-liter French oak barrels. It has contained ripeness, 13% alcohol, a pH of 3.69 and 5.16 grams of acidity. 2,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2018.

Centennial parcel in Gouveia. Very young in color, brightness, and aroma, all denoting tension, focus, and concentration. Complex blue fruit, with notes of forest, mushrooms, pine needles, perfect in the overall blend. Fresh on the palate, lively tannins that do not detract from a creamy texture and long finish. A tremendous wine!
