Volte-Face Apocalipse 2022
Volte-Face Apocalipse 2022
Volte-Face Apocalipse Grande Reserva Red 2022 is the top of the range from VolteFace – Wines of Change, a project by winemaker Teresa Metelo Dias. Born in Alentejo, this wine is the revelation of a grape variety and a terroir: a very limited production Alicante Bouschet (2,250 bottles) designed to mark a generation of great Alentejo reds. A hot and dry harvest favoured low yields and highly concentrated grapes. In the vineyards chosen for Apocalipse, this resulted in perfectly ripe fruit, high colour intensity and sufficient acidity to ensure freshness and long ageing potential.
Vinification: Grapes harvested by hand and carefully selected. After fermentation in the winery, the wine is aged for 24 months in new French oak barrels, refining the tannins and integrating the toasted notes of the wood. 16.5% alcohol, total acidity of 5.8 g/L and pH 3.73, figures that explain the combination of opulence and balance on the palate.
Tasting notes: Dark garnet colour, almost opaque. On the nose, vibrant notes of ripe black fruits, jam, plums in syrup, spices and fine toast. On the palate, it confirms its intense and deep character: noble tannins, full of grip, dense but polished texture, and a powerful, long and very persistent finish, with echoes of black fruit, dark chocolate and sweet spices. A collector's red to accompany rich meat or game dishes, mature meats and fatty cheeses.
Grape varieties: 100% Alicante Bouschet
