Druida Red 2021

Druida Red 2021 is a limited production red wine from the Dão region of Portugal. It is made by winemaker Nuno Mira do Ó, known for his minimalist approach and loyalty to the terroir. It comes from vines that are around 30 years old, planted in granite soils at an altitude of 500 metres above the right bank of the Dão River. It seeks to express its terroir: fresh, elegant and complex. It has potential for ageing in the bottle.

Vinification: The vinification is artisanal, with fermentation in a wine press, keeping the stems, followed by ageing for 18 to 20 months in two 228-litre French oak barrels (30% new and 70% used).

Tasting notes: Bright ruby in colour, it reveals notes of cinnamon, pepper, cherry, gunpowder and a subtle vegetal freshness. On the palate, it shows great elegance and structure, with enveloping, silky tannins. The unique combination of elegance and power that the Dão region offers us is clearly evident in this wine.

Grape varieties: Jaen (40%), Alfrocheiro (30%) and Touriga Nacional (30%)
